Alabama One Health Record®, Alabama’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) provides electronic connections among doctors, hospitals, clinics and other health care organizations so patient information is available in real time, regardless of location. Participants can query the system from within their electronic health record (EHR) systems to access patient encounters, medication information, test results and care summaries from other participants without having to wait for faxes or phone calls, allowing your patient your full attention. Direct Secure Messaging is available for the providers who do not have an EHR. Providers will benefit from a streamlined office workflow that has moved away from paper-based systems, receiving critical patient information as needed whether in the office or in the emergency room, avoiding duplication of services – ultimately reducing costs, and meeting CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs) requirements for Interoperability.
